Learning and Skills Worker

Novus is a leading prison education provider. We are recruiting a Learning and Skills Worker to assess learners and identify individual learning needs, with a strong focus on Additional Learning Support. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build positive and professional relationships, patience and empathy. Previous experience is not essential, but you will need to be adaptable, organised, and confident working both independently and as part of a wider education team.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Liverpool, working as a Learning and Skills Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Liverpool is a Category B Male prison based in Walton, Liverpool. The prison itself has a strong local identity, upon arrival large murals illustrate the city and its surroundings. the teams' aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Have experience of successfully working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
• Proven track record of achieving performance targets
• Demonstrate accurate and timely reporting
• Demonstrate team working
• Demonstrate efficient use of IT Systems to find and collate information
• Have excellent customer service
• Have effective communication skills
• Hold a Hidden Difficulties Level 2 or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
• Hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
