Maths Teaching Role in an Independent School

An independent school in Liverpool is seeking to appoint a Maths Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a well-established school that values academic excellence, personalised learning, and high-quality teaching.

About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that support learners of all abilities.

The role includes preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations, with a strong emphasis on mathematical fluency, reasoning, and exam technique.

You will support both foundation and higher-tier learners while stretching high-attaining students through challenge and enrichment opportunities.

You will work collaboratively within a successful Maths department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning while benefiting from smaller class sizes and strong pastoral support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations

  • Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support intervention and mathematical enrichment activities

  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Ability to contribute to enrichment or intervention programmes
