JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Double Handler FLT Driver in Kirby
Job Purpose:
To safely operate a Double Handler forklift truck to move, load, and unload stock within an outdoor living centre, ensuring products are handled efficiently and stored correctly to support daily operations and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a Double Handler forklift truck safely and in line with health and safety regulations
- Load and unload deliveries (e.g., plants, compost, paving, pots, and bulk goods)
- Transport stock between delivery areas, yard, and shop floor
- Assist with stock organisation and yard management
- Ensure goods are stored safely, securely, and in the correct locations
- Support stock replenishment on the shop floor when required
- Work alongside retail staff to assist with customer purchases, including loading heavy items into vehicles
- Carry out daily forklift safety checks and report any defects
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment
- Follow company health & safety procedures at all times
- Comply with manual handling guidelines
Key Skills & Experience:
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (RTITB/ITSSAR or equivalent) - essential
- Previous experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, yard, or retail environment
- Experience handling bulky or outdoor products (e.g., compost, timber, aggregates) desirable
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication skills, especially when assisting customers

- Physically fit (role involves lifting and outdoor work)
- Flexible and willing to support other areas of the garden centre

- Safety-conscious at all times
Working Conditions:
- Mix of indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions
- May involve weekend and seasonal peak work (spring/summer busy periods)
- Manual handling and physical tasks required
Shifts:
Monday - Thursday 6am-6pm
Pay Rate:
£14.88 per hour.
Ongoing temporary work that may lead to permanent.
