Lead a high‑impact treasury function at the heart of a national charity
We’re looking for an experienced Treasury Team Leader to lead and optimise the day‑to‑day banking and cash management operations of a large, complex national charity. This is a key leadership role within our Finance Centre of Excellence, ensuring strong financial control, excellent service to operational teams, and robust stewardship of charitable funds.
You’ll take ownership of banking, cash management, corporate cards and petty cash, while leading and developing a high‑performing team that supports services across England and Scotland.
This is a full time 12-18 month fixed term contract with attendance at our head office in Widnes required at least once a week so our ideal candidate will be based within an hours commute of Widnes.

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
As Treasury Team Leader, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, control and efficiency across the organisation.
In this varied and high-profile role, your responsibilities will include:
Treasury & Financial Control
- Leading all treasury activities including bank accounts, cash, receipts, corporate cards and petty cash
- Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations to support accurate internal reporting and statutory accounts
- Managing working capital through short‑term cash flow forecasting, identifying risks and opportunities
- Ensuring incoming funds are allocated accurately and promptly to support effective debt management
Process Improvement & Transformation
- Reviewing, improving and embedding treasury systems, processes and controls
- Developing clear, fit‑for‑purpose guidance for operational colleagues managing local expenditure
- Driving continuous improvement to deliver efficiency, value for money and sector‑leading practice
External Relationships
- Acting as the primary contact for banking and card providers
- Optimising banking services and staying informed about market developments
Leadership & Team Management
- Leading, motivating and developing a skilled treasury team
- Setting clear expectations through effective performance management, one‑to‑ones and appraisals
- Building capability, resilience and succession within the team
Risk, Compliance & Reporting
- Monitoring compliance with treasury, card and petty cash policies
- Providing insightful financial analysis and reporting for stakeholders
- Proactively identifying and mitigating risks before they become issues

You’ll bring treasury knowledge combined with confident people leadership and a continuous‑improvement mindset.
Essential:
- Accountancy qualification e.g AAT, or qualified by experience
- Treasury experience within a large, complex organisation
- Experience analysing large volumes of financial data
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Proven experience leading and developing teams with varied skill sets
- Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment
