HSEQ Officer

Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit a HSEQ Officer on a permanent basis. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, The HSEQ Assistant is required to provide assistance, direction and development of all facets in the management of the Health & Safety, Environment and Quality controls within a fast-growing company specialising in the fabrication of reinforcing bar. The HSEQ Assistant will be expected to assist the HSEQ Manager in continuing a process of restructuring within the HSEQ department and the further development of HSEQ system Main Assist the Operations Director to manage the Company’s HSEQ programme in line with the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001. * Provide an assurance and audit role in the company * Assist staff and sub-contractors in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards and contractual arrangements * Assist in the preparation of reports and analysis of the HSEQ performance of the business * Drive philosophy of safety ownership throughout all levels of the organisation. Assisting with developing, promoting, and monitoring of the HSEQ culture * Conduct accident and incident HSEQ reports and investigation * Maintain site safety records * Carry out quality checks * Arrange external testing * Ensure traceability of product and maintain records * Have a commercial awareness when it comes to budget constraints of the organisation * Proactive monitoring of site operators’ competency accreditations along with maintenance of training database * Assist in the development of an in-house training and development programme * Carry out training if within competency level * Assist with workplace inspections * Assist with method statements and risk assessment * Risk assessment review * Documentation review * Prepare and distribute meeting minutes * Utilisation of HSEQ Management software * Provide support and advice to the Directors, other Management, and non-senior managers. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, sub-contractors, and external stakeholders * Deputise for the Operations Director in areas that fall within the HSEQ remit * Carry out other duties as delegated by the Operations Director Person Specifications: Ideally you will have a background in a similar role with an understanding of HSEQ management systems, document control and the fundamentals of health and safety management. The role would suit an experienced HSEQ administrator, or a newly qualified NEBOSH/IOSH certificate holder requiring experience of working with HSEQ management systems. The ideal candidate will be resilient, organised, and detail focused. They will need to be adaptable to change in a complex technical environment and work well under pressure when deadlines need to be met. An understanding of ISO 9001, ISO45001, ISO 14001, or experience of working in an engineering or heavy manufacturing environment would be highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and can work well in a small team. They will have an eye for detail to ensure conformity documentation requirements are met throughout the business. Skills and Qualifications: Essential: Excellent written and verbal English language skills, proficient in Microsoft office (outlook, word, excel, powerpoint) Desirable: General Certificate or equivalent safety training course, NEBOSH Environmental Certificate. First Aid training, Fire Warden Training, Internal Auditing certificate. TechIOSH status
