3-month contract with a local authority
Summary
- The Personal Advisor role is a 3-month contract with a local authority, designed to support young people aged 16–25 who are leaving care. This position is crucial in aiding their transition to independent living by providing practical, emotional, and developmental support. The aim is to help care leavers achieve positive outcomes in education, employment, housing, and overall wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support to care leavers, serving as a consistent and trusted point of contact.
- Develop, implement, and review Pathway Plans in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Assist young people in developing life skills, including budgeting, cooking, and tenancy management.
- Encourage and empower young people to make informed decisions about their future.
- Help care leavers secure suitable accommodation and sustain tenancies.
- Support access to education, training, and employment opportunities.
- Offer guidance on financial management, benefits, and entitlements.
Requirements
- Essential Experience Required
- Experience working with young people, particularly those in care or leaving care, is highly desirable.
- Experience in a support, youth work, housing, or social care environment.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals and managing challenging behaviors.
- Essential Qualifications Required
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or a related field (desirable).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.

- Working hours: 28 hours per week
- DBS required.
- Driving license required.

- We operate on a bi-weekly schedule.
