Maintenance Technician

Dams have been providing furniture solutions since the 1960s and is one of the UKs leading manufacturers and suppliers of office furniture, employing over 340 people from our sites in Knowsley.

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facilities and equipment.

Job Overview

Working as part of the engineering team, you will complete maintenance activities in line with the planned maintenance schedule. You will play a key role in maximising machine uptime through both reactive and preventative maintenance, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, cost-effectively and to the highest company standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake electrical/mechanical maintenance and repair of machinery, plant, equipment & facilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Engineering Manager, Shift Managers, and wider teams to deliver effective maintenance support
  • Undertake electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and repair
  • Identify and report on materials and parts required to overcome breakdowns and repairs
  • The use of multi test equipment to identify and rectify faults within control systems
  • Record detailed and accurate repairs information relating to inspections or completed repairs
  • Ensure parts required for repairs are ordered in a timely fashion
  • Carry out all work to the highest standard, in full compliance with the Companys Health and Safety Policy
  • Adhere to best practice and safe working procedures at all times
  • Provide clear end-of-shift report outlining work completed and any outstanding issues

Experience and skills required:

  • Completion of a relevant, recognised apprenticeship
  • City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience gained in a manufacturing environment
  • Interpretation of complex electrical drawings
  • Pneumatics / Hydraulics fault finding experience
  • A good understanding of electronics
  • Experience in the following control systems is desirable: -oPLCs fault finding, Drives & Controls, Encoders, sensors & feedback systems, CNC machine controls
  • Experience of hands-on modifications to electrical and electronics circuits
  • Experience of retrofitting of drives and configuring parameters
  • Experience of installation projects is desirable
  • High level of attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
