Quality Control Lab Technician
We are currently looking to recruit a Quality Control Lab Technician to work at our Liverpool Headquarters on a full-time, 18-month contract.

You will be responsible for carrying out accurate and timely in-process testing of products manufactured onsite, as well as internal testing, including sensory analysis, and coordinating external testing of finished products to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory and food safety requirements. You will also be responsible for maintaining Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards within the laboratory, supporting equipment maintenance and calibration activities, and promoting a strong safety culture across the business.

What will you do?

As a Quality Control Lab Technician, your responsibilities will consist of the following:

  • Supporting production by delivering timely reporting of in-process testing results
  • Completing internal testing, quality inspections and sensory analysis in line with defined procedures
  • Identifying non-conforming materials and out of specification (OOS) results, and supporting root cause investigations
  • Preparing, submitting and shipping samples to external laboratories
  • Coordinating stability study testing and maintaining associated records
  • Taking ownership of laboratory housekeeping activities, driving improvements and supporting regular review meetings
  • Managing laboratory inventory and ordering consumables as required
  • Calibrating Quality Control laboratory equipment and maintaining preventative planned maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Maintaining Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards and promoting compliance across the Quality team and wider business
  • Promoting a strong Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) culture within the laboratory and across the wider business

What skills and experience should you have?

Strong literacy, numeracy and scientific understanding would be an advantage

Ideally some experience working within a laboratory or quality environment.

We also believe it is important for you to possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Results focused with the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, producing thorough and accurate work at all times
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic and proactive with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships internally and externally
  • A basic understanding of HACCP and food safety principles
  • Knowledge of 5S principles and good laboratory housekeeping practices
  • Familiarity with automation and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI is desirable
